NdFeB Magnets (Rare Earth Magnets)
Sintered and Bonded Neodymium Iron Boron magnet (Ndfeb magnets, magnet ring, rectangular magnets, magnet discs, ball magnets, rare earth magnet, permanent magnets)
Sintered NdFeB magnets have a high permanence, coercive force, energy product and performance, and cost ratio. Its temperature model is suitable for high temperature conditions under 300 degrees F. It is easily formed into various sizes, including disc magnets, rectangular magnets, magnetic cylinders, sphere magnets, horseshoe magnets, etc. It can be single pole magnetized, two poles / one face and multi-pole magnetized, etc. It is widely used in DC motors, wind generators, meters, sensors, sound devices, magnetic suspension systems, medical devices, magnetic transmission machines and other applications. It is prone to corrosion in wet / humid environments without proper plating / coating protection. Therefore, we can plate / coat to customers requirements to include the following: Zinc, Nickel, Silver, Gold-plating, Phosphor, Rubber and Spray Epoxy Resin.
Bonded NdFeB magnets are manufactured by binding rapid-quenching NdFeB powder. The powder is mixed with resin to form a magnet by compression molding with epoxy or infection molding with nylon. The latter technique is particular effective in large volume production, though the magnetic value of products is lower than those made with compression molding because of their relatively lower density. Various shapes of high dimensional accuracy can be produced without further processing. The surface is treated by epoxy coating or nickel-plating to prevent corrosion.
Please note: Always use caution and safety when handling very strong NdFeB magnets. Grinding should be completed before coating or plating is applied to protect the magnets from corrosion. Standard tolerances for NdFeb magnets are +/-.005”
Advantages:
- Being mostly an iron based alloy, NdFeB type rare earth magnet is much more prone to surface oxidation or rust. To eliminate this problem, the user should consider magnet coating, plating, or suitable surface treatment.
- Being less prone to chipping during handing
SmCo Magnets (Rare Earth Magnets)
Samarium Cobalt Magnet (SmCo magnets, magnet, rectangular magnets, magnet discs, rare earth magnet, strong magnet, permanent magnet)
SmCo magnet is a high performance, low temperature coefficient permanent magnet made of samarium and cobalt and other rare-earth elements. Samarium Cobalt holds its standard property in higher maximum temperatures than neodymium, although its maximum strength is less. The cost of SmCo material is the most expensive rare earth magnet, so it is recommended to use only when top performance is required in a high temperature environment. No coating is required for SmCo magnets because it is difficult to be eroded and oxidized. SmCo magnet is widely used in high performance motors, watch, transducers, instruments, positional detector, magnetic couplings, generators, radar and other applications. Standard tolerances for SmCo magnets are +/-.005”
Advantages:
- Very high magnetic properties with good stability.
- Superior resistance to high temperature
- Excellent corrosion resistance capability, no coating is needed for surface protection.
Cast & Sintered Alnico Magnets
Sintered and Cast Alnico Magnets (powerful magnet, magnet ring, rectangular magnets, magnet discs, ball magnets, horseshoe magnets)
Sintered Alnico magnet is usually restricted to a smaller size and it has slightly lower magnetic properties, but better mechanical strength than cast alnico magnet. Sintered Alnico magnet is widely used in all kinds of magnetic products including sensors, meters, controller speedometer and other applications.
Alnico magnets are made primarily from aluminum, nickel, cobalt, copper, iron and sometimes titanium. There are two different manufacturing processes for Alnico: Cast and Sintered Alnico. Cast Alnico can be made into intricate and complex shapes, which is not possible with other magnetic materials. It has a high magnetic flux density, resistance to corrosion, excellent temperature stability and a maximum working temperature of up to 600 degrees. Cast Alnico magnet is widely used in all kinds of sensors and meters, electronics, instruments, medical instruments, teaching, automobile, aviation, martial and other applications.
Advantages:
- Small changes in magnetic properties to temperature effects
- Maximum working temperature can be as high as 1,000 Degrees F.
- Low coercive force.
- Strong corrosion resistance capability, no coating needed for surface protection.
Hard Ferrite Magnets
Hard ferrite magnet (Ceramic magnet, disc magnet, rectangular magnet, magnetic metal, industrial magnet, magnet and steel, strontium ferrite magnet, barium ferrite magnet)
Ceramic magnets or ferrite magnets are sintered permanent magnets composed of barium or strontium carbonate, and iron oxide. This class of magnets, aside from good resistance to demagnetization, has the popular advantage of low cost. The sorts of hard ferrite magnets are manifold and complete. They are charcoal gray in color and usually appear in the forms of circular disk, square, bar, arc segment, blocks, rings, cylinders special magnets etc.
The corrosion resistance of Ferrite is considered excellent and no surface treatments are required. It can be used in temperatures up to 80 degrees C. However, Ferrite magnets may have a thin film of fine magnet powder on the surface and for clean, non-contaminated applications some form of coating may be required. Standard parts include blocks, discs, rings & round bars in different dimensional specifications. Magnets are available in different shapes & sizes and can also be custom fabricated according to specifications & tolerances.
Ferrite magnets are very hard and brittle, and require specialized machining techniques. Moreover, they should be machined in an un-magnetized state. We are equipped to machine these materials to specifications. Anisotropic grades are oriented in the manufacturing direction, and must be magnetized in the direction of orientation. Isotropic grades are not oriented and can be magnetized in any direction, although some degree of greater magnetic strength will be found in the pressing dimension, usually the shortest dimension. They are widely used in various sorts of motors, electro-acoustic, magnetic force machines, duplicators, magnetron fields, household apparatus, magnetic couplings, for sensing, loudspeakers, holding-magnet systems, crafts, magnetic therapy, novelties and toys.
Advantages:
- Corrosion resistance is considered to be excellent
- Cost Advantage
Other Magnetic Materials
HOLDING MAGNET (MAGNET POT, MAGNET FIXER, MAGNETIC FIXER, MAGNETIC HOLDING, ETC.)
Different Holding Magnets, such as Square, Disc and Ring Holding Magnets, hard Ferrite (Ceramic), Alnico, NdFeB and SmCo assemblies are specified to all industries and many engineering applications. These magnets are made by setting Ferrite, Alnico, NdFeB and SmCo magnet in steel parts (and/or some non-ferrite magnetic insulate materials, such as Brass and Aluminum), and are available in many different forms and shapes, which are finished in white, black, gray, nickel or zinc coating, or rubber covered. A holding magnet has a particular magnetic circuit that can concentrate or insulate magnetic power at a target space around the magnetic assembly.
Testing & Quality Control
Our quality control and testing procedures ensures that we hold all magnetic tolerances and dimensions to extremely high standards. We are able to verify & confirm all testing results related to all production work. You can rest assure we will be accurate and consistent each time.
